If you had asked me a year ago today what my race was going to look like I would have told you I would be evangelizing in the streets of Thailand around right now. Yet here I am a year and a pandemic later, living in the mountains of Ecuador, working on roofs from 9 to 5.— Which means right now, life is looking a lot more according to His will and a lot less according to my own.
Since being here in Ecuador, the focal point of our ministry has been manual labor. While this is an incredibly fruitful ministry, it comes with the cost of abandonment as well.— Abandoning the desire for street evangelism or children’s ministry, abandoning the idea of comfort in your day to day life, and most importantly abandoning the expectations that one once had for their race.
As a result of this abandonment, I had to really reevaluate why I said yes to the race and where my motive stemmed from. At the end of the day it boiled down to the question “Why did I say yes to Jesus when He called me to 9-months of service?”
I came to the realization that I said yes to Jesus because it’s Him that deserves these 9 months, not me. So if roofing is what is going to glorify His kingdom the most right now, then put me on the roof. He gave His life for me, so I said yes to living my life for Him. Nothing more and nothing less.
I wanted my world race community to evaluate why they truly said yes to Him. SO I went ahead and asked a few of my fellow racers about their why. Their answers reminded me about how sweet His kingdom really is. A true testament of how His character can impact the direction of your life. I figured they were too sweet to not be shared with the world, so I created a video to embody the yes of my fellow racers.
Watch below to taste and see why my brothers and sisters gave up their 9-months, and while you’re at it, reevaluate why you give your yes to Jesus.
you have such a gift for creating! love seeing the way God leads you to steward that! I love & miss you!
Okayyyyy THIS!!! Everything about this. I’m obsessed and so very proud.
